Diversity and Equal opportunities
Global policy
Montpellier Business School (MBS) has created a department dedicated to Diversity and Social and Environmental Responsibility in order to coordinate all of its initiatives in these areas.
Diversity
Since 1997, convinced that the richness of social mix is a vector of performance and competitiveness for businesses and organisations, MBS has chosen to open the doors of its Grande Ecole Programme to students who had not come up through traditional fields of study, creating a national entrance admission assessment for students with a two-year Higher Education diploma, achieved through apprenticeship. Keeping up with this path of openness to diversity, MBS now offers eight admission assessments as well as its Grande Ecole Programme, under the path of VAE (Validation of Previous Professional Experience).
Concurrently, MBS has reinforced a series of measures designed to prevent financial barriers from excluding deserving students or preventing them from pursuing their studies: excellence scholarships covering tuition fees, international scholarships to pay tuition fees in France, salaried part-time jobs on campus (monitoring), assistance to students with disabilities, promotion of apprenticeship, possibility of getting part-time jobs, etc.
All these actions require an annual investment of several million Euros for MBS. It is indeed an investment, because the MBS’s values and its missions lead it to position itself as a major player in the promotion of diversity and in the development of its local roots.

Social and Environmental Responsability
In all disciplines, teachers establish a link between their discipline and Social and Environmental Responsibility (CSR), which must guide today’s managers.
The Grande Ecole Programme offers a specialisation in Social and Solidarity Economy, while the Bachelor Programme includes the CSR among its educational project.
At one time or another during their studies, all of the students carry out pedagogical projects in groups (Prometheus, Alpha) in which they take part in actions led by about forty local associations that are involved in social and environmental areas/activities. These projects are overseen and evaluated by teachers.

DIVERSITY AND CSR ACTIVITY REPORT – 2016 – 2017
The year 2016 – 2017 was once again rich for Montpellier Business School, but also for its Diversity and CSR policy.
If I had to pick out only two points, it would be, on one hand, the increased recognition of the uniqueness and depth of diversity and CSR policy in our activities by our stakeholders. I will take this opportunity to highlight the very positive evaluations we received on this subject from the accreditation bodies who have been involved this year: the Association to Advanced Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the European Foundation For Management Development (EFFMD), that stressed both the importance of the investment made by MBS on its diversity and CSR policy and the quality of its results. This year, we have paid particular attention to study these results as part of the analysis of apprenticeship as a priority vector to access MBS for students from modest socio-professional classes.
The present activity report (PDF, in French only) therefore describes, in images and figures, the year 2016-2017, the actions of MBS in favour of Diversity and Social and Environmental Responsibility. Here’s wishing you enjoyable reading and hoping it will give you a better understanding of all our actions and commitments.
